I need to set up a calendar with events allocated to a restricted category, so that whilst an event is within the category, it is not visible to the public, but can be viewed edited by an Admin?
is this possible please, and if so, what is the best way to implement

There is unfortunately not a way to limit events to admin-only viewing unless you were to write custom code. 🙁 The only out-of-the-box features are to check the “Hide event from event listings” button when creating an event, but this will still reveal the event in Month View and other non-list views like Week View.
