ParticipantHello, I didn’t see this one listed..On click of any given Non-event date, the Events Calendar navigates to a 404 Page Not Found instead of “There are no events for this date” Any suggestions. Thank you

Moderatortinfishworld, can you check Dayview in Settings > Events > Display and see if the 404 persists.

ModeratorOops should be Day view

ParticipantThanks for getting right back! That actually works great…and when you navigate the next day and previous day, it displays correctly “at No events scheduled for July 31, 2013. Please try another day.” It is only when you click on a date with no events listed.

ParticipantOkay,, correction…when I navigate specifically from List to Day View, it messes up the header and displays a 404 Page Not Found.

ModeratorI see what you mean. Curious. I don’t see this behavior on my installation. I wonder if it has anything to do with having WordPress installed not at the root level of your domain.

ParticipantI will install on my other test site with domain root and see if I can reproduce the issue.

ParticipantOkay, I just installed The Events Calendar 3.0.2 onto my other test website at the domain root and it performs the same as above. Still going to 404 Page Not Found. is there anyway to have it just go to another page for right now? I can create one.

ModeratorWe may have to wait wait for someone more familiar than I with the new views to chime in.

ParticipantThe last I heard from Jonah about this was on July 17. He said there is an open ticket for this problem. See https://tri.be/support/forums/topic/page-not-found-in-page-title-for-empty-calendar/#post-55676
In the meantime, Barry gave me an interim fix that will hide the 404 Not Found for now. It doesn’t fix the problem–it just hides it. See the Answer in the thread https://tri.be/support/forums/topic/webmaster-tools-flooded-with-404s/#post-55380August 2, 2013 at 4:40 pm #58599Leah
MemberHey guys-
We just updated both The Events Calendar and Events Calendar PRO. Please update to the latest versions (3.0.3 and 3.0.5, respectively), and let me know if the issue persists.
Thanks,

ParticipantI did update. Still get a “page not found” on the title of the page, and the content of the page says “No events scheduled for August 23, 2013. Please try another day.”
In my humble opinion, it would be great if developers could build it so when there’s no activity on a certain day, there wouldn’t be a link to go to that day.

MemberThat’s right.
What did change was that empty month views no longer return a 404 status. However, all days on the calendar (“month view”), regardless of whether they contain events or not, are still linked to and empty days will continue to return 404s with this latest release.
I’ll take your comments forward to our dev team though as I can appreciate this is probably undesirable in most cases. In the interim I can only echo Cynthia and suggest you use the workaround provided here (you could also adapt that and remove links to empty days altogether).
Sorry for the inconvenience – we’ll let you know as soon as there is anything else to report on this one.

ParticipantWe have implemented the nofollow workarounds, but interested to know an ETA on the core fix – any approximate timelines?
Don’t plan on holding you guys to the day, just would like to know in general so we can decide how to use / not use the Events Calendar Pro in the meantime.
