ParticipantI work for a company that uses the events calendar pro. We have struggled for some time trying to get it to look/function properly on a mobile device. I was really excited to see the mobile responsive improvements that you had mentioned were coming at the bottom of the 3.3 release blog post. After looking at the 3.4 release though, I’m confused as to whether the filterbar, and mobile responsive features have actually been rolled out since they weren’t mentioned in the 3.4 release post. Could you please provide some clarification as to where you guys stand at this point? I’m faced with some deadlines for our calendar design and need to decide how to proceed. Thank you for your time.

MemberHello angoddard,
Thanks for getting in touch. As you can imagine, making our entire calendar (and our add-ons) mobile-friendly is no small task! We’ve been working hard on it and are now in the final stages. We were hoping to have it available for 3.4 but were not able to have it ready in time. We’re doing a lot of testing to make sure that our responsive views are as awesome as the rest of our plugin. I can’t give you a release date for the responsive version, but I encourage you to stay tuned- it’s coming, and it’ll be worth the wait 🙂
Best,
Leah

ParticipantUnderstood, thank you for the reply. It seems like there was a way to display both month and list view at the same time and hide/show each one depending on the @media query. (For mobile, display:block the list view and display:none the month view.) Do you know of any good tutorials on how to accomplish this? After searching, I haven’t found any and I’ve had a hard time getting this to work. Thank you.

ParticipantHowdy angoddard,
I am one of the customization folks around here. What you want do is not going to be easy to accomplish. For example, within each template view there will be overlapping IDs, and thus you have JS errors. There are other problems you would have to work around as well. I can not really advise on you on how best to do this because of how involved the entire procedure will be.
A solution we have seen some implement is using wp_is_mobile() and then redirecting a user to the list view. Something like this:
if ( tribe_is_month() && wp_is_mobile() ) wp_safe_redirect( TribeEvents::instance()->getLink( 'upcoming' ) ); // not tested, just a general conceptObviously that is not a responsive solution, but in the end it does make your site pretty mobile friendly. As Leah mentioned we are still hard at work at making things fully responsive, so maybe implementing something like the above in the mean time will tide you over. Does that make sense? Would that solution work for now? Please let me know. Cheers!

ParticipantThank you, that does make since and that is pretty much the approach that we have in place at the moment. We’re looking forward to your updates. Good luck!
