ParticipantUpdate for my problem: Eric’s fix DOES work. My developer had another go at uninstalling and re-installing the Community Events plugin and it worked this time, but he noted “I had left an old fileset from the plugin in there which is definitely my fault,” and which he thinks caused it not to uninstall and re-install cleanly.
Thanks for all the help.

ParticipantBrian, we both typed at the same time – see the explanation from my developer.

ParticipantOK, this can be closed as far as I am concerned: my developer had another go at uninstalling and re-installing the Community Events plugin and it worked this time, but he noted “I had left an old fileset from the plugin in there which is definitely my fault,” and which he thinks caused it not to uninstall and re-install cleanly.

ParticipantHave uninstalleed and reinstalled both Events Calendar and Community Events via FTP and site still down with the same error.

ParticipantEric,
No good – deleted the Community Events folder, downloaded the fresh copy (again) from here and uploaded it, but this time the fix did not work – site/wordpress still broken with same error.
I hope someone from EM will be along soon on this.

ParticipantEric, thank you for monitoring this. I couldn’t swear as to what version of Community Events was when I looked at the WP-Admin, though it was definitely v4 we downloaded and installed via FTP.
I will try removing and re-installing Community events via FTP.
I was thinking the best thing might be to remove and re-install all the Event Manager plugins in order to start again – the base plugin, Pro and Community Events – but is it safe to presume the considerable amount of event data that has been entered will be safe if I do that?
Maybe I should go and have a coffee and leave it until someone from EM gives a definitive solution.

ParticipantThis is getting stupid: followed Eric’s advice above to install the new v4 of Community plugin, and yes, my site came back up. Just looked at the plugins and Community Events was there, but not activated. So I clicked to activate it and the whole thing has crashed again, same error – Fatal error: Cannot redeclare tribe_is_community_my_events_page()
Can Brian or someone from support tell us exactly what to do?
1) I have Events Calendar, Events Calendar Pro and Community Events plugins installed.
2) Upgrading Events Calendar this morning crashed the site.
3) Eric’s solution was to install new version of Community Events via FTP as Woprdpress was down
4) Did that and it worked – site and WordPress back
5) Community Events needs to be activated to work, so did that. Crashed the site againSo what is the right way to get this all working? Uninstall Events Calendar completely, then re-install Community Events via FTP, activate it, and only then re-install Events Calendar?

ParticipantBrian,
I guess my issue is that this information was not in the announcement you sent out this morning about v4. Had you simply said “you must update the Community plugin first,” then the issue would have been avoided. Without such a warning I suspect many people will have gone straight to their WP Admin panel and clicked ‘update’. Hopefully they will have backed up first, but to have the whole site come down and the hassle that causes is not so good….

ParticipantEric – that worked. Shame there was such a hassle over this plugin update, but very grateful for the advice here.

ParticipantI have just had the same problem after upgrading to version 4.00 of Event Calendar. I would try upgrading the Community plugin as suggested to see if it solves it, but how can I do that? I cannot get to my WordPress admin back-end, so how would I activate the Community plugin upgrade even if I installed it to the plugin directory via FTP?
At the moment the site is down with Fatal error: Cannot redeclare tribe_is_community_my_events_page()…. etc and I have no idea what to do next.

ParticipantMany thanks Brian. I think the trade off of having it use up so much vertical space to have them open by default – tripling the depth on screen – really is not ideal. I would still really prefer an simple horizontal bar that doesn’t cause this, and would look so neat as per your own Shindig demo.
But I do appreciate you trying to help. Thanks anyway.
Tom
ParticipantAh, OK. So would appreciate knowing if there is any workaround that would let me override the sizing limit in the script.
Tom
ParticipantThanks Brian.
I have already deleted the “Search” option as I need only date and location search for my purposes, so there are only two input fields for my visitors. Along with maybe changing the “Find Events” button text to simply “Search”, I would have hoped the current theme’s page width had room to accommodate an uncollapsed bar? – two fields and a button?
