PLease note that in my original post I said that I had indeed turned off ALL plugins except for TEC/TEC pro and switched to 2016 with no improvement.

So it is NOT a plugin or theme conflict.

    Thanks.

Thank you (with an audible sigh of relief). I eagerly await it.

And, believe me, I was, and continue to be, happy to offer any detail I can.

I appreciate your prompt replies, but I’m not real happy at the inability to identify a solution or at least a way to keep this from happening again.

This is the third recurring event that has experienced the runaway recurrences, and it’s NOT an inconsequential problem – matter of fact, the first time it was so hair-on-fire serious that I spent about 5 hours, into the wee hours of the morning, deleting the thousands of recurrences. I can’t really charge my client for that 5 hours, given that I recommended your plugin, so that’s a bunch of time out of my life, a lot of explaining things that appear to have no explanation and a substantial amount of lost faith in my judgment.

I have another client for whom The Events Calendar Pro and Tickets Plus would be a good solution, but I’m feeling very troubled about these errors (including the other ticket I have in about previews that don’t display) and the inability to resolve them.

I will consult with my host, they have a sterling support rep and may be able to help me out of this jam.

I enabled debug and debug display but saw no errors on the page. Please note that it’s not just the third entry on a date, sometimes it’s the second, and sometimes the first (and only). Some days have 3 events all of which work. From my testing it’s not the recurring events, and it is mostly the special events, like the theater, or a concert, or a comedy show – stuff that really needs the extra info; of course – new corollary to Murphy’s Law.

This is kind of a big deal, and it’s just a tad disappointing that we’ve run into 2 unexplained problems in our first month and a half of use of the pro plugin. My client is not real happy with me, or The Events Calendar, at the moment.

Question 1: I mean exactly that – I thought that was exceedingly odd so I went back and checked several times – including after clearing browser cache. And it showed the date May 19, 2016 as its start and end date, even though it appeared in the list as June 15, 2017. That was the first series, and all of the 6/15 ones I looked at said the same thing – they were listed as May 19, and non-recurring.

Question 2: Because at some point I found a Trash Series button that worked, and it trashed up until June of 2017, except for that May 19 one.

Comment 3: Unfortunately the Bulk Delete only works about 130 at a time. Any other way to delete them? reset the first event to trash series?

And any way to have this NOT happen again? How it happened?

Thanks, don’t know why I didn’t think to just change the email address…

    Re: your questions

    1. URL for recurring event: http://www.theoldgallery.org/events/2017-06/
    It’s AA, starts on June 15, 2017

    2. So I went to take this screenshot and noticed that the event I opened (June 15, 2017), showed it was actually May 19, 2016 with recurrences None (all the ones I checked said the same thing). I had a May 19 (no year) in my list that was a single event with no , so I tried trashing that. Now the events of the sequence do not open up for “edit all”, giving an error message that this event is in the trash, to restore it before trying to edit it. But I can’t find it in the trash, anywhere. Additionally, trying to edit a single event tells me it’s going to break it out of the series, permanently, so I haven’t done that. So much for troubleshooting.

    3. Right now it’s ONLY on the 1 event, AA.

Just as a fyi: it appears that at one time there were 2 sequences for AA – one that went through 2016 and into 2017 (the 12 month limit I set?), and had the rabbit-like recurring events, but I was able to trash that sequence, as I see 8907 of them in the trash, though nothing before July of this year. Then there’s another series that now starts June 15, 2017 and the repeating recurring events go until October 19, 2017, where they turn into well-behaved recurring events, UNTIL November 16, 2017 where they start SKIPPING weeks (on a weekly event).

And as further puzzlement, when you click on one of the events in the calendar, where it says Recurring event (see all), if I click on “see all” I get this URL and a blank page: http://www.theoldgallery.org/event/aa__trashed/all/

It seems like the easiest thing (maybe – except I can’t figure out how to do it short of hand deleting 100 (of 8900+) at a time at about 5-6 minutes per delete) would be to completely REMOVE this event and all it recurrences, and start over and only let it do a year at a time (actually that’s how the General settings were set and it still did 2+ years).

Ghosties and goblins and things that gae bump in the nicht.
