July 30, 2014 at 8:36 am in reply to: Is there a template include I can use to make the filter bar appear elsewhere? #540018Timothy LindsayParticipant
Hi Barry,
Following your hints, I’ve managed to get this working, so thanks!
As it stands though, it means I’ve edited the core code of the Filter Bar plugin – I’ve simply commented out the lines of code that add the action. Not the most elegant solution, and also it will make future upgrades tricky. (In fact I see there’s already an upgrade out now!)
So I’m trying to do as you’ve suggested – unhook the Filter Bar from it’s usual action – by adding code to my theme’s functions.php file. Here’s what I’m doing there:
// remove default display of Tribe Filter Bar
remove_action(‘tribe_events_before_template’, ‘displaySidebar’, 25);
remove_action(‘tribe_events_bar_after_template’, ‘displaySidebar’, 25);…but the Filter Bar still shows in it’s usual location.
I’ve added some temporary console logs to the code, in order to monitor the sequence of events, and it seems the Tribe add_action happens *after* my custom remove_action, overriding my attempt to remove it.
Any more ideas on how I could unhook this action without editing the core code?
Timothy LindsayParticipantHi Barry, thanks agin for your great help! I had already gone down this route, but I didn’t yet know about the 100 argument in your snippet, which appears to make my custom stylesheet load *after* the Tribe default one, and in turn makes writing my custom CSS much easier.
Timothy LindsayParticipantOops, should have searched first: https://tri.be/support/forums/topic/adding-custom-styles-alongside-default-filter-bar-stylesheet/
So there’s no way to do a neat override like in the other plugins? I will add this as a feature request.

July 28, 2014 at 2:34 am in reply to: Calendar Widget links not working, even after applying the usual fix #523717Timothy LindsayParticipantHi Barry, thanks for getting back to me.
I disabled all plugins except for my Modern Tribe ones (The Events Calendar, Events Calendar Pro, and Filter Bar). I then emptied and disabled caches in the browser. At this point, the calendar widget links were still not working. I couldn’t click through to other months, or show events for a specific day.
As soon as I switched to the twentythirteen theme, the calendar links work again.
I reactivated all the plugins one by one, the calendar links still worked.
As soon as I switched back to my theme, the links stopped working.
What could it be about my theme that is causing the problem? Unfortunately I didn’t develop it myself, and the developer is not currently available, so it could be difficult to track down. Any hints you could give me would be appreciated.

July 25, 2014 at 9:31 am in reply to: Can clicking the calendar widget trigger a scroll to that day in the List view? #506808Timothy LindsayParticipantHi Barry,
I couldn’t be certain that it was using Events Calendar Pro, or even that it was WordPress, but it looked pretty similar – but then I suppose most calendars will do!
Anyway, you have indeed answered my question, thank you 🙂
