ParticipantSo I’ve tracked this down a little further (perhaps incorrectly), but it appears to have somthing to do with function tribe_get_month_view_date(), although I’m not sure how to edit it to return the month of next upcoming event.
I’d even be happy with hard coding a specific month for the mini cal at this stage (as my festival is lucky enough to take place within one calendar month).
Again – help most appreciated.
Thanks

ParticipantHaving looked at this for a while now, it appears that eventDate is the key to this, and also applies to the large monthly calendar view as well as the mini Calendar.
Essentially all I won’t to do is start the month view off with the month of the next upcoming event.I’ve searched the forums (a lot) and am surprised this question hasn’t come up before – surly others have festival / runs of events that are not all year round?
I’m happy editing php, but just need pointed in the right direction.
Anyway – any help most appreciated.
Thanks again

ParticipantHi,
I was commissioned to design a site for an annual harp festival, their old website was terrible and stuck in the dark ages of poor design (flashing txt and no CMS, just awful). After and initial consultation (client questionnaire and meeting) to nail down the design requirements, I quickly set about sourcing the best way to implement an events system. For a variety of reasons I had already chosen WP as the CMS (not least of which being that I love it), and set about looking for an events system / method of using posts for events.
After much research and trying lots of techniques and plugins, I final settled on The Event Calander as my first choice. I’m glad I did. As well as the out of the box features you can find on this site, they main thing I looked for in an events system was flexibility to adapt the system to my needs. The Events Calander was pretty much spot n in that regard (despite one support forum post I needed to write regarding the simple – one would think – task of changing the event page title).
The documentation is quiet good, but could perhaps use more examples, but it’s good enough to get the job done if you have some coding experience.
So here is what I’ve built and released last week: http://harpfestival.co.uk/events/upcoming/
It’s to be used for a number of years for an annual 6 day festival. I think there is room for improvement, but the client is happy and that’s the man thing.
Let me know what you think.

ParticipantHi Rob – sorry for the late reply was away for a few days.
Thanks for the update. I can see what to do now. Although I must say this is a long winded approach that is introducing additional processing server side (translation check) when all I really want to do is change the text that appears at the top of the page.
Anyway – I dug around a little more and found that be creating a new page tempate for events I had control over this display. Job done.
Thanks for looking into it though. I’l going live with a new site (for a music festival) on Monday (tomorrow), so will post a link fr your showcase when it’s up (assuming the web servers don’t explode between now and then ! :-p )
Cheers,
Graeme. -
