Norwegian (bokmål) translation gone after update

I updated to the newest version today, and with it the translation is gone… Everything is now in English in the calendar.

I have the same problem. On my site http://viser.no I use the Events Calendar for all the songwriter (viser) concerts in Norway, so it’s a pity it suddenly all in English…

I’m sorry you’ve had this problem – is the rest of your site in Norwegian, and only things coming out of The Events Calendar are displaying in English?

Or is the entire site failing to accept the Norwegian translation?

Unfortunately, it seems that for now Norwegian is only 1% translated.

Two things to note are:

1 – You do not have to submit an entire translation, you can just submit translations for individual strings. Even if it’s just one string, or something like a spelling correction, it all helps!

2 – Your submitted strings will be saved as “suggestions”, and not immediately included in a translation file for export until an administrator approves them. This may seem like a limitation, but it just helps us ensure nobody comes along and deletes translations or adds spam or something to them. Your suggestions will be approved very promptly.

The rest of the site is totally in Norwegian, the only problem being that the localisation of The Events Calendar Pro is suddenly gone. I saw that the nb_NO.po file was missing from the update so I used the old one, but to no awail.

I’ll just jump on here as well.

I noticed that the GlotPress project for Norwegian (Bokmål, nb_NO) has also been completely wiped right now, if this is still in use or not I don’t know.

@Øyvind, you need the .mo files for translations to show up, not the .po files.

I did grab the .mo files for my language from the previous release, and they work, but they are rather lacking (4% translation progress)

My bad, I was looking at the wrong file as I was missing the .po files for the old translations and was looking into the wrong one.

I’m updating the translations on the old version to match 3.10 now and we’ll hopefully get things rolling 🙂

Hi and thanks!
I updated the old language files with PO-Edit (and exported to .mo) and now it works almost as expected. I also made some changes to the translation, mainly changining “Aktivitet” (Event) with “Arrangement” which covers the same but is more associated with concerts, stage events, meetings etc.
I also changed som uppercase letters to lowercase so it doesn’t look awkward in Norwegian.

To be clear, however, the translation files you’ve shared here will not go to waste! We really appreciate you sharing these files and we can use them to import any missing or broken translated strings for the Norwegian locale on the site.

And I have to add, I love using the Events Calendar Pro on my website viser.no, it is far better than other options I’ve tried!

Hi Øyvind,

Do your translations work locally when you copy the .mo and .po files you edited with Poedit to your server?

I can see you have the same problem as us (Danish), where it mixes in English so it is ‘Upcoming Arrangementer’ & “Past Arrangementer”

Anybody know a solution to this?

Yes I probably did what you did, used the old files (with some modifications in PO-edit). Check out the translation pages linked to by George above.
Funny with these “Previous arrangementer” etc. 😉 but looks bad to our readers…

Ok thank you! Will try to just copy the .po .mo files locally and tweak them as necessary with the translation – like you mention it is good to be able to customize according to own need.

And yes hopefully the issue with the English words can be fixed asap. It does look odd…
