Update translation files for The Events Calendar 3.0

As we move towards The Events Calendar/PRO 3.0, there are a number of changes to the plugin code that are quickly rendering old translation files inadequate. These translations will need to be updated prior to the 3.0 release over the next couple months. We’re writing this post as a call to arms for all those translators out there: we want you to either update an existing translation (the list is below), or provide a totally fresh one if your language isn’t already included.

Here are the languages we’ve got translated in The Events Calendar/PRO:

  • Bulgarian (bg_BG)
  • Bosnian (bs_BA)
  • Catalan (ca)
  • Czech (cs_CZ)
  • German (de_DE)
  • Spanish (es_ES)
  • Finnish (fi)
  • French (fr_FR)
  • Greek (el)
  • Hebrew (he_IL)
  • Croatian (hr)
  • Italian (it_IT)
  • Japanese (ja) — The Events Calendar only
  • Lithuanian (lt_LT) — The Events Calendar only
  • Norwegian (nb_NO)
  • Dutch (nl_NL)
  • Polish (pl_PL)
  • Portuguese (pt_BR)
  • Russian (ru_RU)
  • Serbian (sr_RS)
  • Swedish (sv_SE)
  • Ukrainian (uk)

If you’re willing to update one of the translations above and provide us with a fresh set of completed .po/.mo files, let us know so we can get you what you need to succeed once the 3.0 beta is ready. Upon completion we’ll work those into the next release and will give you a 30% off coupon that you can put towards either a plugin of your choosing or to bump up from your current license type to the next level. Note that you will need to translate both the free The Events Calendar and the PRO add-on to be eligible for this offer.

On a similar token, our previous offer for new translators also still stands: if you provide us with a set of completed translation files for a language that we don’t already have translated (we can get you what you need to make that happen), you’ll receive a free personal PRO license for your efforts. The same rule goes for each of the add-ons. Please reach out to us first, before attempting the translation, as the .pot file we’ll have you use is different from the one currently found in the public release.

Drop us an email (pro /a/ tri.be) or hit us on Twitter (@moderntribeinc) and we’ll get you what you need. You’ll be helping us out, and more importantly you’ll be helping out others in the community who speak your language.
