Translate The Events Calendar 3.0, get a free license

We’re just around the corner from launching The Events Calendar / Events Calendar PRO 3.0, and one of the last pre-release tasks on our list is getting translations nailed down. We’re planning a week after code freeze to focus exclusively on getting the plugin translated, and are hoping our multilingual users might be down to help out.

If you are familiar with POEdit and know how to translate a plugin, we’ll be happy to give you a coupon for a free PRO 3.0 personal license (which you’ll be able to redeem upon release) in exchange for completed .po/.mo files for The Events Calendar & Events Calendar PRO. If you don’t want 3.0 feel free to help yourself to a personal license for any add-on of your choosing instead.

Right now we’ve got volunteers lined up for the following languages:

  • Arabic (ar)
  • Bosnian (bs_BA)
  • Brazilian Portuguese (pt_BR)
  • Catalan (ca)
  • Croatian (hr_HR)
  • Czech (cs_CZ)
  • Danish (da_DK)
  • Dutch (nl_NL)
  • German (de_DE)
  • French (fr_FR)
  • Hebrew (he_IL)
  • Italian (it_IT)
  • Japanese (ja_JP)
  • Norwegian (nb_NO)
  • Polish (pl_PL)
  • Portuguese (pt_PT)
  • Romanian (ro_RO)
  • Serbian (sr_RS)
  • Spanish (es_ES)
  • Swedish (sv_SE)
  • Turkish (tr_TR)
  • Ukranian (uk)

If a language isn’t on the list above, consider it up for grabs. We ask that everyone volunteering confirm they’ll be available during the week we’ve scheduled. Though not set in stone, we’re planning that to be either the week of April 15-19 or April 22-26. We’ll confirm in writing once that has been established…but until then, to be safe, please don’t volunteer unless you’re available for both.

Translations are a community effort, and we appreciate everyone who volunteers. As we wind down the 2.x lifecycle we’ve got a great batch of translation files available for the plugin. While those will unfortunately be rendered obsolete with the new release, our goal is to launch 3.0 with as many languages as possible. Let us know if you’re down to help make that happen.

    1. Hey Esteban. Thanks for the note! We’ve actually already got someone lined up for Spanish (es_ES), but if you wanted to do what WordPress calls “Peru Spanish” (es_PE), we would definitely take you up on the offer. Otherwise we will reach out if the person doing es_ES drops out.

  12. Hey guys! Thanks to everyone for the notes here — awesome that there is so much interest on this end. We’re collecting names of volunteers now, at our central email address (pro@tri.be). If you remain interested please email that account so we can get you on the list, and so my colleague Leah can follow-up with the appropriate guidance.

Worth noting that Leah is out through this week, but she’ll be in touch to offer follow-ups come Monday. Thanks again for your interest.

  13. I can translate in french so if all these folks drop out, I’m here

    1. Thanks Ragots! We’ll keep that on the radar; there is definitely always a possibility someone will drop out so it’s good to have a backup. Appreciate your flexibility on that end.

  15. I can translate for Arabic can you count me in

    1. Thank you for the offer Sameer. We have a translation of The Events Calendar and Events Calendar PRO to Arabic, which will be coming out with version 3.0. However, if you’re interested in translating some of our other products, please do email us (pro at tri.be) and I’ll give you more info.

  16. Hi Rob!

Can I have the Event translation in Spanish (es_ES)?

    Thanks!

    1. You can find the es_ES translation files in the plugins /lang/ folder. You can learn more about changing the language on your site at http://tri.be/faqs/change-calendar-language/.

  17. You got the Norwegian translations covered? I am ready to translate to Norwegian Bokmål or Norwegian Nynorsk anytime – I have previously done everything from small to major translation work for companies like Gigabyte Technology, WordPress, Cyberchimps, Tubepress and more.

    Best regards,
    Andreas

    1. By the way, I´m looking at the Norwegian PO-file which only has about 70% translated. I could do the remaining 30%, if nobody´s on the task? 🙂 it looks pretty weird with some english words appearing here and there in the plugin, so I´ll just do it anyway – I guess.

      1. Hey there Andreas! Thanks for the heads up here. Leah has been out for a few days and is out still until sometime tomorrow, but if you send her an email to pro /a/ tri.be referencing this, she’ll give you the skinny on where we are with the Norwegian translation file and whether there’s an opportunity for you to fill in that other 30% 🙂

Thanks for your patience and interest so far. Let me know if there’s anything else I can do at this time.
