Before I continue though, as support I don’t think you should close and mark posts as answered just because you don’t want to give further help on them, it seems time and time again I see posts where your position is ‘this is custom development’ and your doors come slamming down. I see posts that I think are not custom development but questions I would consider suitable to a product you are offering for sale in the current WP market. For example, how many posts about shortcodes, you seem to class this as custom development, I would argue that shortcodes are an integral part of WordPress plugin implementation and people buying plugins expect to have plugins shortcodes to add plugin functionality to their website. Additionally maybe it is a company decision but emoticons in responses are starting to grind on me, you are a sensible business with a reputable product, for me emoticons do not convey this and my 2 cents is to reconsider the use of them in formal communication to your customers.

Back to my initial post, maybe I did not make myself as clear as I will now as thought I was trying to be more polite than asking outright and trying to find the middle ground in case I was making an obvious mistake. As you closed the post however and seemed to class this as custom development I will ask outright.

You have implemented a custom type in your plugin, i.e. ‘tribe_events’, why does a custom page template not work as with any other custom type implemented in WP when viewing a post of type ‘tribe_events’, so following WP standard template hierarchy standards? I do not consider this a question about custom development I think this is a question about the product I have purchased. Although your response does include the idea of using the template include filter, I shouldn’t have to use this really and would like to avoid adding conditionals into this part of the processing chain when WP is built to handle this automatically.

Regards,

J Healy

["post-72210","topic","type-topic","status-closed","hentry

Page templates -

<meta property="og:description" content="Okay this post continues the one started at https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/custom-page-template-for-events-and-default-event-calendar-page/#post-71793 .
