First, my events do not appear in date order on my website, they always appear in the order it was posted so I always have to change the date that it was posted in order for the events to show up in date order on the website.  On my admin page the order is fine though.  The other issue I have is that my view is set to the default calendar view instead of list, but it still shows up as the list on the website.
