I am wondering if you have a solution which allows a customer to be notified (say by mailchimp) when future events are added which meet a set of filters specific.
\nIE: Get notified by email when someone adds a <Event_Type> within <N_ miles> of <City>
\nI see you have RSS feeds but this is different and would be helpful to be able to see how many people have expressed an interest.
