I had some ddos attack 2 days ago, targeted at xmlrpc and wp-login. that was fixed. but also after all the fixes, the website was running slowly, and the server load was sometimes over 140, usually its around 3-4. deactivating the events calendar plugin brought the number of mysql queries from around 3k per second to 1k per second on a server basis. And it was just one site in question. So there is something terribly wrong with the number of queries present. Running dedicated cloudlinux machine, latest wp and plugin version on php56 and php-fpm with varnish. Even that combination could not withstand around 200 users online. On frontpage we only have calendar widget in the footer with one event displayed, and one fixed page with the calendar. But the biggest concert is a drop of 2k queries per second while the plugin is being disabled. I am afraid that activating it back will again produce the same issue. Server is more than capable of serving around 4k users online, tested in real life conditions. At about 200 online, with plugin activated, I get a almost nonresponsive server even via ssh, and loads up to 140.
