In this article we’ll go over a little bit more about our Bug Reporting Process, and how those are tracked, reviewed, fixed, and updated.

What do we consider a “Bug”?

Typically we consider a bug as anything that can be easily replicated with one of our plugins on a basic install. This is typically using The Events Calendar, Events Calendar Pro, Event Tickets and sometimes our Premium plugins. We also test this with preferably the Twenty Twenty-One or Twenty Twenty default themes. If we can set up a sandbox with our basic plugins, and see the same issue happening, we can report it as a bug.

Now occasionally there are some features that may be outright missing, or that might not have been working fully since release. In these cases, they need to be looked at by our Team and changed or fixed. However, this may take less priority over a full-on feature that is outright not working.

Lastly, sometimes users may run into an issue that we cannot replicate, but we still want to document it and look at it. This could be a small conflict with another plugin, a site configuration issue, or a one-off problem. These types of issues however, can take quite a bit more time to track down.

What happens after we create a Bug report?

After we confirm the issue, our Support Team will write up a full Report of the Bug, attach your ticket to it, with all the data we can compile from you and other users, and then put it in our system. After this, it needs to be reviewed by our Development team and given a Priority status. This ranges from the most severe to an issue that only 1 or 2 people have seen. When we submit these reports there can be a backlog of other tickets already being worked on, similar to our Support Ticketing system. Our system is set up so that we can keep track of every little report that we get, because we understand how frustrating it can be to deal with a bug. This process can take time, so we would ask for your patience when dealing with issues like. We want to get these fixed for everyone! Our team will also do whatever we can to try and work around the issue, it may be different settings or a different method for setting things up.

The ticketing system is set up so that when an issue is fixed, you will get an automatic email notification in the same thread letting you know we have remedied it, and that you can update your plugin. These details will also be in the Release Notes. We are committed to taking a look into and solving all the issues that we possible can, so please, report them to us!

Have you ever wondered what happens when you write in with a possible bug report and we have confirmed it’s an issue?
