{"id":1958273,"date":"2023-11-10T17:51:26","date_gmt":"2023-11-10T22:51:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/theeventscalendar.com\/knowledgebase\/?p=1958273"},"modified":"2026-04-22T01:11:09","modified_gmt":"2026-04-22T05:11:09","slug":"create-speakers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theeventscalendar.com\/knowledgebase\/create-speakers\/","title":{"rendered":"Creating Speakers in Event Schedule Manager"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-typed-in-vs-custom-post-type-cpt\">Typed-in vs Custom Post Type (CPT)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As seen in the <a href=\"https:\/\/theeventscalendar.com\/knowledgebase\/speakers\/\">Creating Sessions<\/a> article, speakers can be typed in on a per-event basis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What\u2019s the difference?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A Typed speaker name is just how it sounds. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Just type the name(s) and you are done.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Only the speaker&#8217;s name will appear on the session and schedule.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Since the names are not linked, no speaker page, description, social media links, or images exist.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Speaker names are not reusable. Speakers page that you can point interested parties to. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Speakers can have their full details, including social media links on their page. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You can add a description Name<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Speaker&#8217;s Title<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Speaker&#8217;s organization<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A variety of social media fields<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You can add a speaker to a Speaker Group. A speaker group is for more complex events where speakers need to be presented together as a group or a subgroup via a shortcode. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Featured Image, which is typically a photo of the Speaker<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Once Speakers are created, you can define the Speakers page URL on the <em>Settings <\/em>page.
