But, thankfully, the concept of it is much simpler than its name implies.<\/p>\n\n<p>&#8220;Nexus&#8221; is another way of saying <a href=\"https:\/\/www.merriam-webster.com\/dictionary\/nexus\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">something that connects groups together<\/a>. In this case, that something is business dealings or economic transactions.<\/p>\n\n<p>The idea is that some states want to collect sales taxes on transactions that happen in their state, even if the platform (or, say a website) is not technically in that state.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-why-you-should-care-about-economic-nexus\">Why you should care about economic nexus<\/h2>\n\n<p>Some states may want to collect taxes on all sales. Others collect taxes on sales over a certain threshold.<\/p>\n\n<p>The reason we&#8217;re sharing this information with you is that you may be directly affected. If you are using our Event Tickets plugin and\/or our Event Tickets Plus and Community add-ons, and some of your sales take place in a state that enforces economic nexus rules, then you&#8217;ll want to read on.<\/p>\n\n<p>These are products that facilitate ticket sales on your WordPress site, which could impact you. We want to make sure you have everything you need to cover your bases just in case.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-to-tell-if-you-re-affected-by-economic-nexus-rules\">How to tell if you&#8217;re affected by economic nexus rules<\/h2>\n\n<p>The best thing you can do is find out what states you currently do business in, see if any of them enforce economic nexus rules, then consult with a tax professional.
