Shortcuts are individual reusable message templates. Campaigns are collections of shortcuts that can be applied to an event all at once. This article covers both.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-promoter-shortcuts\">Promoter Shortcuts<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A shortcut is a message template you can use to quickly create emails over and over again. With a shortcut, you pre-define:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Subject line and message content<\/strong> \u2014 copy and <a href=\"https:\/\/theeventscalendar.com\/knowledgebase\/k\/promoter-merge-tags\/\">merge tags<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Default audience<\/strong> \u2014 attendees of this event, or attendees of all events<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Scheduling<\/strong> (optional) \u2014 when the message will be sent relative to the event&#8217;s date, start time, or end time<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>For example, instead of manually writing a reminder to attendees 3 days before every event, you can use the &#8220;Event Reminder&#8221; shortcut. In one click, your reminder is ready to go.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Shortcuts are accessible from two places:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>From the Shortcuts menu<\/strong> \u2014 there is a link to your shortcuts in the main Promoter navigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/theeventscalendar.com\/knowledgebase\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/shortcuts-menu.png\" alt=\"The Shortcuts link in the Promoter main navigation menu\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>From the message editor<\/strong> \u2014 shortcuts are also accessible while creating a new message.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/theeventscalendar.com\/knowledgebase\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/new-message.png\" alt=\"The shortcuts panel accessible from within the Promoter message editor\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-working-with-shortcuts\">Working with Shortcuts<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Shortcuts page lists Promoter&#8217;s twelve default shortcuts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/theeventscalendar.com\/knowledgebase\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/twelve.png\" alt=\"The Promoter Shortcuts page showing the twelve default shortcuts\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-default-shortcut-actions\">Default Shortcut Actions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Each default shortcut supports the following actions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/theeventscalendar.com\/knowledgebase\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/default-shortcut-actions.png\" alt=\"The action menu for a default shortcut in Promoter showing Preview, Edit, Duplicate, and Add to event options\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Preview<\/strong> \u2014 View the shortcut&#8217;s message before using it.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Edit<\/strong> (aka Customize) \u2014 Modify the shortcut&#8217;s content, audience, or schedule.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Duplicate<\/strong> \u2014 Create a copy of the shortcut as a starting point for a custom version, without modifying the original.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Add to event<\/strong> \u2014 Automatically schedule the pre-written message for selected events.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-creating-custom-shortcuts\">Creating Custom Shortcuts<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Custom shortcuts can be created in one of three ways from the Shortcuts page:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/theeventscalendar.com\/knowledgebase\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/promoter-create-shortcut.png\" alt=\"The Create Custom Shortcut block on the Promoter Shortcuts page\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Click the <strong>Create Custom Shortcut<\/strong> block to start from scratch.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select <strong>Edit<\/strong> from a default shortcut&#8217;s action menu to customize that default shortcut directly.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select <strong>Duplicate<\/strong> from a default shortcut&#8217;s action menu to create a custom copy.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-custom-shortcut-actions\">Custom Shortcut Actions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Custom shortcuts support the same four actions as default shortcuts, plus two additional ones:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/theeventscalendar.com\/knowledgebase\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/promoter-shortcuts-actions.png\" alt=\"The action menu for a custom shortcut in Promoter, showing the additional Delete and Revert options\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Delete<\/strong> \u2014 Permanently removes a custom shortcut. Applies only to shortcuts created from scratch or duplicated from a default.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Revert<\/strong> \u2014 Undoes any customization applied to a default shortcut, restoring it to its original factory settings. Applies only to default shortcuts that were edited.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-promoter-campaigns\">Promoter Campaigns<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A campaign is a reusable collection of shortcuts that you can assign to an event in one step. Rather than adding shortcuts to an event one at a time, a campaign lets you apply a curated set of messages \u2014 your pre-event reminder, day-of message, post-event follow-up, and so on \u2014 all at once.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-creating-a-campaign\">Creating a Campaign<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Head to the Shortcuts page and expand the <strong>Create a campaign<\/strong> sidebar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/theeventscalendar.com\/knowledgebase\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/image-1024x553.png\" alt=\"The Create a Campaign sidebar expanded on the Promoter Shortcuts page\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Shortcuts can be added to a campaign in one of two ways:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Manually selecting shortcuts<\/strong> \u2014 choose the shortcuts you use most often.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Using the starter campaign<\/strong> \u2014 a set of commonly used default shortcuts for a successful event promotion (the default shortcuts can be modified).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/theeventscalendar.com\/knowledgebase\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/image-2-1024x573.png\" alt=\"The two campaign creation options: manually select shortcuts or use the starter campaign\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-manually-selecting-shortcuts\">Manually Selecting Shortcuts<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Click <strong>Add a Shortcut to this campaign<\/strong>. The screen will switch to Shortcut Adding Mode. Click the large plus (+) icon on any shortcut to add it to the campaign. Click <strong>Add Shortcuts<\/strong> once you&#8217;ve reviewed them. Additional shortcuts can be added at any time by clicking <strong>Add a Shortcut to this campaign<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-applying-a-campaign-to-an-event\">Applying a Campaign to an Event<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Campaigns are designed to be applied to events. To add a campaign to an event:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Navigate to the event of your choice.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click the <strong>Add Your Campaign<\/strong> option.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/theeventscalendar.com\/knowledgebase\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/image-13-1024x327.png\" alt=\"The Add Your Campaign option on an event in Promoter\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/theeventscalendar.com\/knowledgebase\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/image-14-1024x504.png\" alt=\"The campaign selection screen in Promoter\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>You&#8217;ll be taken to a confirmation screen. Review your shortcut selections carefully before proceeding \u2014 you can still adjust them at this step.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/theeventscalendar.com\/knowledgebase\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/image-16-1024x578.png\" alt=\"The campaign confirmation screen in Promoter showing the shortcuts that will be applied to the event\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>After confirming, you&#8217;ll see a list of messages that were created as a result of adding the campaign to the event. All messages are set to Draft status and won&#8217;t send until they have been published.
