The Virtual Events plugin lets you connect your Zoom account to The Events Calendar and create unique Zoom meetings right from the event editor. To connect your Zoom account, you’ll need to create a custom Zoom app. We’ll walk you through the steps.
Create a Zoom Marketplace Account
First, go to the Zoom App Marketplace and either sign in or create a new account. Once you are logged in, select Develop → Build App from the menu to to access the app creation page. From there, choose the “OAuth” app type by clicking “Create.”
Create an OAuth App
On the next screen, create a name for the app and choose the “User-managed app” option. Uncheck “Would you like to publish this app on Zoom App Marketplace?” and click “Create.”
Add Your App Credentials
On the App Credentials page, enter the admin URL of your WordPress site (e.g.
https://wordpress.test/wp-admin/) in the “Redirect URL for OAuth” field.

Provide App Information
In the Information section, fill out the short and long description fields. Since this app is only for your private use, you don’t need to worry much about what you type here.
Then, scroll down to the Developer Contact Information section and add your name and email.
Let’s move to the Scopes page and click Add Scopes.
Select the checkboxes for “View your meetings” and “View and manage your meetings.” This gives the app permission to communicate between your Zoom account and your website to create calls. Click Done.
Enter WordPress Settings
You’re done creating the app! Now all you need to do is connect it to your WordPress site. Log into WordPress and go to Events Settings → APIs and scroll down to the Zoom section.
In the Zoom section, enter the Client ID from your app in the Client ID field.
Next, enter the Client Secret in the Client Secret field.
Click the Connect to Zoom button. You’ll be redirected to Zoom where you’ll need to click Authorize.
After authorizing the connection you’ll be brought back to your WordPress site. You’ve now connected your Zoom account and are ready to start creating Zoom calls from your event editor!
